artist statement . 2025
i have been to many places. not in foreign countries or states, but in backrooms of grocery stores,
adolescent psychiatric wards, in the gardens of small town cemeteries. i have met many people.
not celebrities, not people mentioned in textbooks, but men who play saxophone outside of
theaters, queer anarchists, and women who've mastered the art of the perm. out of all my years of
sidewalk observation and casual conversations throughout ohio (my home), i have found my
muse in the many people making something out of this expanse of "nothing". i make videos and
drawings, mostly of found footage/objects/stolen art supplies, where people become the lifeblood
of a larger beast: a beast that is ephemeral, layered, full of references, and swelling with
something beautiful and misunderstood. i am invested in studies of the body, the uncanny,
women and queer studies, and the formic qualities of video and film; my practice consists of
blending these interests with subject and form and seeking ways to push the boundaries of the
work that process creates can be shown and perceived.
